Map Of Africa Wilderness

Map of Africa in Wilderness is an extraordinary viewpoint at Wilderness Heights. Its a spectacular scenery of mountains and forests. It is amazing how “nature has shaped” this map image of Africa. The outline is because of the way the Kaaimans River flows. What a beautiful sight! Kaaimans River is a stunning waterway in the Garden Route, which has created a breathtaking view, many attractions and activities. Alongside the river, there are many activities to be done. Here are a few activities that can be enjoyed.

  1. Kayak to the waterfall – short trip which suits any fitness level
  2. Kayak to the base of The Map of Africa – longer trip but not strenuous
  3. The highest abseil in the Garden Route – if you’r looking for adventure , a 70m abseil!
  4. Walk on the beach – watch the tides for the best time
  5. Kaaimans River Railway Bridge – for beautiful photos
  6. Swim in the shallow river which hugs the mountain – amazing for kids
  7. Lunch at Kaaimans restaurant – fantastic food and atmosphere

TAKE NOTE!Kayak Kaaimans River Wildernes

Safety is first priority so please do not attempt to swim in the ocean past the railway bridge as there are lots of cross currents and no lifeguard on duty

Depending on which activity you have planned for the day, remember to be safe, take what you will need and enjoy!

Directions to Map Of Africa:

The Map-of-Africa is an extraordinary viewpoint at Wilderness Heights. Wilderness is situated approximately 15km from George, driving on the N2 highway towards Knysna.
Having traveled this road several times, I can vow it is very likely that you will see paragliders just as you have passed the Kaaimans River Bridge.

The bright and colourful paragliders, soaring against the open blues skies, make a beautiful picture.
The Wilderness turn-off to the left, takes you to the road that leads to Wilderness Heights. Just follow the road to the T-junction and turn left again.

Map of Africa Sign

An information board shows the direction to Map-of-Africa. The last stretch to the view point is gravel road, but is very well maintained. This is a popular view point and a long row of cars are parked to the side of the road over a weekend.
The views on both sides are awesome. To the right is the Map-of-Africa view point and to the left is a paragliding take-off spot.

There are also a few beautiful accommodations available for those who plan on staying:
