Dolphin Point is a lookout point in Wilderness, situated on a wonderful rocky outcrop and as its name suggests, it is the perfect viewing point to spot pods of
dolphins frolicking in the waves. The Western Cape is teeming with life and the landscape filled with an abundance of endemic fauna and flora. Our oceans are no different. There are eight marine mammals that call our coastline home. These include five types of dolphin and three different whales. The Wilderness is an untouched area of beach paradise, with its powerful foreboding waves and clean beaches, it is a tourist highlight. Dolphin’s Point also gives a magnificent view of Wilderness Beach and beyond.
You will be able to view the famous railway bridge which crosses the river mouth, which was used by the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe. The railway is a beautiful hiking trail that can be enjoyed with the family. The kaaimans river itself also has many activities that can be enjoyed like, swimming, fishing and canoeing. There are also lost of accommodation available around the area for those who would like to stay the night. Dolphins Point also has lots of dassies running around which always brings a smile to the face. Remember they are wild animals, so please be careful and don’t give them junk food.
The Dolphin Point Lookout in wilderness is definitely worth making a stop!
