Evita Bezuidenhout, the most famous white woman in South Africa, is now 89, always ten years older than her imposter. She has been in the public domain since 1981 when she, as South African Ambassador to Bapetikosweti, caught the public’s ear and eye. She has experienced the dramas of the National Party’s chalk becoming the ANC’s cheese. Still in her kitchen Tannie Evita keeps her opinions carefully to herself. However, after the recent general election of 29 May, some things just cannot be ignored. She doesn’t need a crystal ball to see what is happening to South Africa.
