The Island is a beautiful part of Great-Brak River and nourishes with plant and bird life. With trees growing all around, it is very green and full of shady spots. Perfect for a a picnic and afternoon walks. There are a few little spots on the Island to enjoy with family and friends.
There is a park with a large open green field, big enough for everyone to enjoy! There are also toilet facilities that may be used and is and is in neat condition. Dogs are allowed, but must be on a leash at all times. It is a lovely area to relax under the trees with a picnic basket. It is also nice to just stroll around and admire the bird life that the Island holds.
There are a few ways to get to the beach from the Island. One is more to the lagoons side, and the other are a bit closer to the beach itself. Unfortunately, there are no parking spaces available for your vehicle at these entrances so you’d have to park closer to the Island Park. No dogs on the beach. The entrance more to the lagoons side indicates that no dogs are allowed , but has a bin for your doggies poop. So maybe take them with on a leash.
Just a few steps from the Island Park is another open field that kind of connects with the park, it is right next to the Great-Brak River and has a bench that overlooks the water. This is perfect for a early morning or afternoon walk. You can even take with a picnic box to fill in the moment. No Fires are allowed, so enjoy peacefully. It is absolutely beautiful and there is lots of bird and plant life to be seen like, Dikkops (Water Thick Knees), Oystercatchers, Grey Herons, Cormorants, Wagtails, Terns and Gulls, Stilts, White Egrets, Plovers, Sunbirds.
