The South Cape Symphony Orchestra ( is back in full force! A new program including several well-known marches and more symphonic pieces will have you tapping your feet and clapping your hands. A medley of Grease! will take you back to your childhood while the Allegretto of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 will find you marvel at the beauty of the piece so ingeniously composed by the old master.

The ever changing membership of the orchestra has proven an inspiring challenge for the as ever enthusiastic and knowledgeable conductor and musical director Niall Jack. Where talented and ambitious amateur musicians leave the area to pursue their career, it opens up opportunities for new talents. The orchestra currently has vacancies for trombone, clarinet, flute, while the string section is always wanting to grow, but specifically looking for viola and double bass. Rehearsals take place every Monday night in George, with players coming from as far afield as Mosselbay, Wilderness and Knysna. For more information please contact Niall Jack on 081 409 7877.

The South Cape Symphony Orchestra’s next concert will take place at the DR Church Denneoord, corner Charlotte and Wallis Street in George, on the 16th of April, 19h00. Tickets can be bought at E. The South Cape Symphony Orchestra - including 3 members from Knysna! - will give a concert in the NG Kerk (Fitchat Street) in Knysna on Sunday the 14th of October. The concert starts at 15h00.
