Barnyard Kennels and Cattery

Barnyard Kennels is a family run business. Mom and daughters, Marge, Heide and Sasha are active in the day to day operations. We have an excellent team supporting us making sure your doggy, kitty or even birdie are as comfortable and loved as possible.

Marge and Heide live on the farm, just a few meters from the kennels. On a quiet night you can even hear the snoring of the oldies.

Being so close to the kennels allows us to hear if any of our guests are unsettled or restless during the night.

SERVICE:

1) Indoor boarding for big and little dogs.
2)Collection and Delivery of pets.
3) Post op care.
4) Bathing of dogs on request. (Dogs boarding at Barnyard longer than 7 full days will be bathed free of charge.)
5) Freshly laundered bedding.
6) A Registered Vet on call 24/7.
7) Walking and swimming can be offered when requested at an additional fee.
8) Our kennels are fitted with infra-red heating for the cold weather.
9) Large grassed play areas for exercising at least 3 times a day.
10) Personal loving care tailored to the need of each individual pet.

ABOUT THE KENNELS

We have 4 large grassed and securely fenced play areas for the dogs which they enjoy three times a day. Access to the play areas is through a double gated secure area making it impossible for any dogs to get out. All kennels have wooden beds and curtains to create a home like feel.Kennels are sterilised and cleaned daily with clean bedding provided.
Owners who wish to supply their own bedding and toys, are welcome to do so. Please ensure that all items brought are CLEARLY MARKED

MEAL TIMES

All dogs are fed twice a day, unless otherwise specified by the owner.
The standard fare at Barnyard is Pellets served with chicken and rice cooked on a daily basis.
We understand that there are many varying diets for pets and are happy to feed according to your pets diet should you provide their food in clearly marked containers.

MEDICATION

We also cater for Post Op pets, Diabetic dogs that need insulin injections, etc. Critical medication will be charged at the rate of R10 per day. Should we be concerned about your pet we will take them to your vet where possible, without hesitation.

CATTERY

Our cattery has 28 indoor units. Our office is situated within the cat facility and the coming and going of our clients, as well as the TV playing during the day, contributes to the “At Home” atmosphere they enjoy.

Units are cleaned daily and sand boxes are provided.

MEAL TIMES

Our cat boarders are fed Royal Canin Fit 32 twice daily owners are welcome to supply any special food they wish their cats to have.

The Old Oak Slave Tree

The Old Oak Slave Tree in George, is a ancient English oak in front of the Old Library. It is one of the original trees planted by landrost Van Kervel when he laid out George Town in 1811, and is the largest specimen in the southern hemisphere. Known as the 'slave tree" because of the old chain embedded in the tree trunkand the old lock attached to it. The lock dates from 1890 and were used to secure the roller of the tennis courts.
