Bubbles for Silly Season? Any 1?

So they say silly season has sprung into gear here in the Garden Route. That gives us one of the biggest reasons to celebrate and how other than with Bubbles. I find this is one of the most exciting times of the year as I am able to play with products and try out new wines in the Oak Barrel and off coarse the bubbles also has its place with New Year around the corner, and as Humans we will find any reason to celebrate so lets join hands and take full advantage this summer.

Cooking With Booz!

I thought it was pretty cut and dried. I was wrong. You put alcohol in a pan, you cook it for a while and all the alcohol evaporates, easy…aah no not really! So I started browsing through the internet to see what it says. Some cook sites cautions that a dish with wine must be cooked long enough to remove the harshness of the alcohol. In fact, some sites wanted you to simmer and reduce the wine separately from the sauce, and add it only when it has been gently reduced to its essence. Quite a few sites just do not say how long this might take?

CORK vs CAP?

A question I am asked over and over again in the Shop is, “The difference between cork and screw caps”. Most people seem to associate cork with expensive/medium range wine and screw caps with cheap wine, this may have been true in the past, but today some of the best vineyards are bottling their wines with screw caps.
