Vintage and Classic cars on Heritage Tour.

The Heritage Tour, which is organised by the Southern Cape Old Car Club (SCOCC), is for the fifth year driven by Liquorland.This year’s tour will take place from 23 to 27 September and will follow a route of more than 1000 km through the Eastern Cape. The tour starts and ends in George. On the first day participants will travel via Route 62 to Jeffrey’s Bay, then on to Addo village, Graaff Reinet and Willowmore, before returning to George on the fifth day.

Only vehicles manufactured before 1975 may take part, unless approved by the organising committee. All participants must be paid-up members of the SCOCC.

Two of participating vehicles were manufactured during the Twenties. These vehicles belong to Phillip
and Amanda Rosser, from George, who will be travelling in their 1926 Ford Model T, the oldest vehicle on
tour. Chris and Bentjie Langeveld, from Mossel Bay, will be travelling in their 1929 Chev Phaeton, the
second oldest vehicle taking part.

Vehicles manufactured during the Fifties that will be taking part, include, Rohann and Marlise
Steenekamp, from George, in their 1952 Chev 3100 LDV; George Marx and Mariette Terblanche, both
from Tergniet, in their 1957 Morris Minor 1000, Jan and Anita Wright, from Danabaai, in their 1958 Morris
Minor 1000, the Pienaars, from Beaufort West, in their 1957 Mercedes Benz 180 D pick-up, and Andre
Fourie, from George, in his 1958 Mercedes Benz 300 Cabriolet.

Vehicles manufactured during the Sixties that will be taking part, belong to Pierre Conradie, accompanied
by Maritz Stander, both from George, in Pierre’s 1960 Studebaker Champ pick-up, Sydney and Daphne
Young, from Tulbagh, in their 1961 Morris Minor 1000, Pierre and Tilly Olivier, from Blanco, in their 1962
Morris Minor 1000, Kobus Halliday from Hartenbos and friend Gawie Breytenbach from Heidelberg, in
Kobus’s 1964 Studebaker Lark, Pieter and Bets Boonzaaier, from Hartenbosheuwels, in their 1965 Ford
Fairlane, Deon and Sonja Erasmus, from Groot-Brakrivier in their 1967 Jaguar E-type, Johan and Alet
Lingenvelder of Blanco, in their 1967 Wolseley 16/60, and Chris and Nelie van Staden, from Groot-
Brakrivier, in their 1968 Porche 912 Targa.

Vehicles manufactured during the Seventies, include Jan du Randt and Jani Klomp,from Stormsrivier, in
Jan’s 1970 Renault Alconi, Daniel and Elizabeth Moolman, form Fraaiuitsig, in their 1971 BMW 2800 CS,
Gerhard and Fienie Hoepfner, from George, in their 1971 Mercedes Benz 280 SE, Gerrit and Alda
Lambrechts, from George, in their 1974 Mercedes Benz SL 500, and Danie and Karin Schmidt, form George, in their 1975 Toyota Landcruiser. CG Smit, from Durbanville, and Tinus Langenhoven, from
Tygervalley, will be travelling in a 1988 Toyota Landcruiser, which will act as sweep.

The number of participants is limited, as some towns along the route offer limited accommodation, but
