GEORGE (April 2014) – Is there anything more that one can write about Chris Chameleon? It seems that every possible word regarding his creativity, talent and enigmatic personality has been written...well, apparently there are a couple more things to write. On 10 May 2014 Chris Chameleon will thrill diners at an exclusive feast hosted at Transkaroo restaurant in Great Brak River.
The second annual Bon Vivant dinner will be held to raise funds for Carpe Diem School and it promises to be just as extravagant as last year’s stunning event.
The Bon Vivant event is synonymous with opulence, grandeur...a gastronomic journey that guarantees to leave you gobsmacked. Who better then than the vibrant performer-extraordinaire Chris Chameleon to head this voyage to “planet mind-blowing”? Chris Chameleon has wowed audiences worldwide with his larger-than-life stage personality since 1997. As the bassist and front man of Boo!, an eclectic musical threesome, Chris made his mark in the music industry, locally and internationally. Boo! performed over 800 shows in 17 countries, including Hungary, Croatia and 14 states in the USA and soon after acquired a worldwide cult following.
In 2004 Chris Chameleon spread his wings, choosing to explore his Afrikaans South African roots by releasing the critically-acclaimed ‘Ek Herhaal Jou’ - compositions of the poetry of celebrated 60’s poet Ingrid Jonker. It seems clear that the awards literally started raining in from the moment Chris stepped on stage in 1997. During the past seven years he has received an excess of 23 awards and he keeps on delivering one astounding performance after another.
He started 2014 with the successful theatre tour of ‘Klank van Jou Oë’ in the Netherlands and Belgium in February. Upon his return to South Africa he immediately started filming on a movie called ‘Suurlemoen’ in which he plays the character of Mr Marx, a school teacher. Fans will be delighted to hear that he is currently working on his imminent new Afrikaans album called ‘Posduif’ which features a collection of compositions of the exceptional and challenging poetry of the young poet, Daniella Deysel.
Jerzy Kosinski said “The principle of true art is not to portray, but to evoke.” Chris Chameleon has been mesmerizing audiences with his four-octave voice and vocal acrobatics since forever it seems...He certainly evokes the deepest emotions in audiences the world over and leaves them with memories to ponder for a lifetime. A true revolutionary South African artist.
