Cola Beach

Cola Beach is situated east of Myoli Beach. The beach can be accessed from the Myoli Whale Watching platform which is hike of 1.5 km. It can also be accessed via a public staircase just of Dover Drive. It is popular for its wind erosion of its dunes. It's not a safe beach to go for a swim, but is animal friendly and perfect for a beach walk.

Both excellent sites also reasonably sensitive. Drive slowly along the gravel road to the sites and obey the rules board. THERMIC with PREVAILING SW to S to SW winds. DANGER POWERLINES at Cloud Nine site. Big sink monsters, so break out and land before you get too low. Pilots have made it to the beach from take off.

Myoli Beach borders Sedgefield's estuary on the east and is very popular for whale and dolphin watching (Whale watching deck on top of dune). Parking area at the hotel (Cabanas) with toilets and showers. Not safe for swimming, but excellent for long beach walks and is animal friendly.

Sedgefield Mouth/Estuary is a very popular spot for estuary/lagoon fishing. Light tackle when mouth is closed and fair tackle (sinker wait) when open. Bait can be pumped out the lagoon with a prawn pump (need a bait licence)
Species of fish: Grunter, gerick(leervis), Stompneus, Steenbras, Kabeljou and Mullet. All species can be caught on: Pilchards, Pink prawn, Squid, Mud prawn or Live bait (mullet).
Fishing permits are available at Sedgfield Post Office or SAN Parks.

Gericke's Point Beach Walk Sedgefield

Distance: A brisk 20 to 30 minute hike there. Casual stroll there and back: 2 hours. It is recommended that the hike be done during low tide. Beautiful tidal pools, rock formations, bird-life and great fishing and snorkeling opportunity. No permit required. Safe for swimming in the bay.

Turn left just before the owner's house and continue until you come to car park overlooking the sea. Fynbos reserve. No SMOKING, LITTERING OR FIRES. Works on light E to SE.From 9 to 22kph. Hugh lift band. Good for practicing your safety techniques, as it's almost impossible to drop out. Top landings reasonably easy, just don't go too far back on the ridge. Talk to the LOCALS, otherwise land near bathrooms at the beach.

Buffalo Bay Beach

Buffalo Bay Beach is about half way between Knysna & Sedgefield. Offers unspoiled seaside scenery, safe swimming and superb surfing conditions. Dolphins are frequently spotted and Southern Right whales visit this section of the Cape coast annually between May & November. Here you'll see some of the highest vegetated sand dunes in the world.
This is a stunning beach in a small bay. Safe for swimming and there are life gaurds in season. Very popular for fishing off the rocks,surfing, paddle skiing, kite surfing and has a jetty.

Mini Magic Horse Riding

Buffalo Bay Horse Rides offer Horse Trails and Rides for young and old and is situated on the beautiful Buffelsbaai / Buffels Baai rd, halfway between Knysna and Sedgefield. The stables as less than 1 km from the N2, the yard lies on the bank of the Goukamma river, right next to River Deck Manor.

We facilitate horse rides for big and small, on horses ranging from Thoroughbred down to Miniature. We have selected our horses for temperament and dependability and they are all truly wonderful, each in his own way.

Buffalo Bay Horse Rides offer 1 Hour Forest Horse Trails and 2 Hour Forest Horse Trails. We plan to start beach rides soon!

For under 6′s we offer rides on some our mini horses. The aim is for an experience that is enjoyable, fulfilling, and encourages better insight. They are eternally fascinating creatures!

Platbank fishing spot in Goukamma Nature Reserve

Between Buffalo Bay and Sedgefield, in the Goukamma Nature Reserve, lies a beautiful stretch of unspoilt beach. A popular spot for the shore angler with species of fish such as Blacktail, Steenbras and even Shark. As this is a Nature Reserve, no bait or Oyster collection is allowed.

You can get there from the N2 just outside of Sedgefield (Knysna side). Take the Groenvlei or Lake Pleasant turnoff. Continue on the gravel road to the parking area at the beach, about 3.3km from the N2.

Sedgefield Island Slipway

This is one of two slipways on the Sedgefield lagoon situated on the Island. If you want to enter Swartvlei Lake, this slipway is the closest. (500m from train bridge). Boat permits are needed and can be obtained from Nature Conservation.

The Goukama Nature Reserve starts at Groenvlei and ends at Buffalobay. This is one of the most scenic beaches on the Garden Route and is a must see. Fishing is allowed as long as you bring your own bait (nature reserve) and if you're up to it,it's about a 4hr beach walk to Buffalobay Beach. Whale & dolphin watching from the parking with information boards on marine life.

The Sedgefield golf club is a 3 year old Short course, and offers a good challenge to both lower and higher level handicap golfers. With 4 water hazards and numerous bunkers the course was designed to challenge all.
The golf course is situated on the N2 directly outside Sedgefield. Enjoy a game of golf with the amazing mountain range and Swartlvlei Lake in the background.

After a good round of golf, nothing beats a really refreshing drink at the nearest "19th hole" where you can discuss all those missed approach shots and solve Ernie's putting problems!

Sedge Links Golf Club also offers a sport on TV where you can watch your favourite sporting events, or you can choose to absorb some sun and get a bit of fresh air on the wooden deck. Kingfisher Drive Slipway

This is a slipway located about 300m from the lagoon mouth. It is a popular slipway used by local fisherman. The area is also used for swimming; bait collecting, shore fishing and bird watching. Ablutions block available next to slipway. Boats need permits which can be obtained at Nature Conservation.
