George Museum is the theme of the flourishing timber industry where old timber tools, implements, a yellowwood woodcutter's cottage and an outdoor selection of labeled indigenous trees are on display. The fairy painting by Ruby Reeves, large collection of mechanical instuments and massive printing presses are fascinating.

The Shell Museum

This structure was erected in 1902. The building was also used as a furniture factory and garage for motor repairs. The building is still in a very good state of repair and the solid wooden pillars render a special atmosphere to this edifice.
On the lower level the “touch tank” and aquarium enables visitors and school groups to actively learn about sea life and the creatures along South Africa’s shoreline. A “man and mollusc” exhibition portrays the history of the use of shells by man.

The Maritime Museum Mossel Bay

The building as originally erected in 1901 to serve as a grain and sawmill. It has now been adapted to serve as a unique Maritime Museum. A life-sized replica of Bartolomeu Dias’s caravel is on display together with all aspects of the maritime history of the early Portuguese, Dutch and English navigators.

When you enter the Iron and cleaning museum in Hartenbos you will be entering the only Iron Museum in Africa. It demonstrates the basic and interesting history of the smoothing of textiles and the cleaning there of. Starting with the earliest century taking you on a step by step journey to the present.

Outeniqua Transport Museum

Experience a day down memory lane and visit Outeniqua Transport Museum. Inside the museum is a variety of 13 steam locomotives, a photo gallery depicting some of the most breathtaking photos of South Afican steam. Various models of steam locomotives, steam locomotive number plates, model train room and road motor vehicles.
